Plastic Surgery Costs Have Fallen, Are You In The Market

April 3rd, 2009 · No Comments · Medicine

Now that globally it appears we are “economically challenged” this is actually the perfect time to be looking into plastic surgery. Why? Because like with everything else plastic surgery costs are coming down! Plastic surgeons all over the U.S. are nip-tucking their once super high fees and the cost of plastic surgery is getting closer to being much more affordable for the average person. How can you find these surgeons, their prices and information about them without having to spend hundreds in consultation fees?

The World Wide Web is your best friend. Some surgeons will post their prices on their website however most still make you email in for additional information. You most likely will have to call their office to get the costs. Be prepared though some plastic surgeons won’t give them to you over the phone unless you are very persistent! Also be aware that there generally are more expenses than just the price the surgeon gives you. You will need to have pre operative tests completed before your surgery which sometimes depending on your insurance will be covered. If not you will need to ask your surgeon which tests he will need and budget accordingly. The most common tests include a blood exam, EKG, cardiologist examination and a chest x-ray. If you are having any breast work done a mammography and possibly an echogram.

These costs add up if you don’t have insurance that will cover them or if you haven’t budgeted for them, it can come as quite a shock. Other plastic surgery costs that surgeons don’t regularly talk about are medications like antibiotics, pain killers, anti-inflammatory medication, gastric protectors, gauze, bed pads, and all the other accoutrement s that are needed during your recovery. You will also most likely need a compression garment. This could be another small investment you had not planned on. There are hundreds of different types and styles of compression garments and your surgeon will likely have a recommendation of which one he prefers. Be prepared because you will need to buy several in order to have one to wear while the other is being altered or washed. Not to mention that there are stage one garments, stage two and so on and so on.. Each garment depending on the brand and quality you choose can be $70 or more!

Don’t fret if you feel that face lift slipping from your hands as all of these costs add up you still have wonderful options open to you.

For years people have been taking advantage of the strong Dollar or Euro You will find some amazing deals overseas with excellent surgeons at state of the art hospitals.Plastic surgery costs abroad are usually less than half of what you can find in the United States and many of these companies or surgeons include in their prices the pre operative examinations, compression garments, nursing care, massages and even medications. That alone can can save you a bundle.

If you are looking at multiple surgeries this is definitely the way to save thousands of dollars and you also can have a nice vacation and see some great places you would not have visited otherwise. Do your homework and pick only reputable companies/surgeons, ask lots of questions, take your time and DO NOT let budget be the only factor in your decision. If you feel more comfortable with one company over another, even if they are a few hundred dollars more it will be worth it for you to pay the extra and have peace of mind. Trust your instincts.
